New Delhi: The Congress party has scheduled a meeting of its steering committee members, Pradesh Congress Committee presidents, Congress Legislative Party leaders, and Frontal Organization Chiefs to be convened on Friday while the second leg of the budget session is still in progress.

The meeting, which will be presided over by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, will start at 5 o'clock in the party's headquarters in the nation's capital.

The conference is being planned, according to the party, to discuss "recent political developments."

An emergency meeting of the steering committee, PCC presidents, CLP leaders, and national heads of frontal organisations, departments, and cells was scheduled to take place tomorrow, March 24, 2023, at 1700 hours at the AICC Office in New Delhi to discuss the most recent political developments, as per a formal notification dated Thursday.

"The meeting will take place in person at the AICC Office for those who are in New Delhi; for everyone else, a ZOOM video conference will be available. Your mobile device will receive login information for the online Zoom meeting by tomorrow at 1600 hrs "the statement added.

Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi yesterday said that during the course of the inquiry, the Surat court, which sentenced Rahul Gandhi to a 2-year jail term in a criminal defamation case, asked the Congress leader 'again and again if he will apologise, but he refused. The minsiter also alleged that when the court pronounced the verdict, Gandhi was not apologetic, describing the Congress MP as a habitual offender.
