BJP National General Secretary and In-charge of Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh criticised the Congress, Akali Dal and AAP last Saturday. Meanwhile, he said, "Efforts are being made to "secretly hijack" the farmers' movement by creating cheap political capital from the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.'' He further said, "The UP government has registered criminal cases and investigations are on which was set up under a retired High Court judge.''

At the same time, he said, "So, it was only cheap politics in this situation that political parties were trying to give a speech to the farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri and win their sympathy in the wake of the upcoming assembly elections.'' He also said, "This is a law and order problem in Lakhimpur Kheri and the UP government is dealing with it strongly. The UP government stands firmly with the affected families and assured them of all possible help, after which they withdrew their agitation after political parties like Congress and Akalis failed to do anything for the welfare of farmers in all these years, were now "pretending to sympathize" with them.''

You must be aware that violence broke out in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh last Sunday and eight people died due to that violence. In this case, it is alleged that the car of Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, trampled the protesting farmers, killing 4. Meanwhile, four more people were killed in the violence that followed and the situation has intensified after the entire incident. Opposition leaders are now demanding the resignation of Union Minister Ajay Mishra and deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
