Congress on Tuesday termed the government’s infrastructure monetization plan as “legal looting and organized looting,” and valuable public assets created over decades were handed over to a selected minority. Parliament further claims that the government is transferring valuable assets generated from the efforts of the people to millionaire “friends,” the Congress further alleged.  Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi alleged the government is giving the "jumla of Aatmanirbhar (rhetoric of self-reliance)"   “The first thing that happened was a democratic disaster that Dr. Manmohan Singh correctly described as” organized looting and legalized looting.”

Now monetized Mela is coming. Valuable public assets created over decades are given to a small number of selected people. This is legalized looting and organized looting.” Parliamentary senior leader Jairam Ramesh said.

Finance Minister unveiled the National Monetisation Pipeline on Monday that included unlocking value by involving private firms across infrastructure sectors - from passenger trains and railway stations to airports, roads and stadiums. About 25 airports, including the ones at Chennai, Bhopal, Varanasi and Vadodara, as well as 40 railway stations, 15 railway stadiums and an unidentified number of railway colonies have been identified for getting private investments.
