New Delhi: Several opposition parties, including the main opposition Congress, have decided to boycott the Constitution Day celebrations held in the Central Hall of Parliament today. Leaders of opposition parties gathered near the Statue of Constituent Constituent Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Parliament House Complex under the leadership of Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi decided not to attend the function.

Former PM Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Anand Sharma along with several leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were also present near the statue of Dr. Ambedkar. These parties had put a banner on the statue, which had written stop the killing of democracy. It is worth mentioning that on the occasion of completion of 70 years of the Constitution, a joint sitting of both the Houses has been organized in the Central Hall of Parliament.

On the other hand, President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the digital exhibition through video conferencing from the Central Hall of Parliament House on Tuesday on the occasion of the 70th Constitution Day. Apart from Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, PM Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, other officials will participate in the ceremony organized on Constitution Day.
