New Delhi: Political turbulence has once again started rising in Punjab. The reason for this political turmoil is former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. Captain Amarinder's advisor Raveen Thukral tweeted that the Captain will hold a press conference tomorrow morning. The captain is said to be likely to announce his new party in the press conference.
Meanwhile, it is reported from Delhi that the Congress high command has summoned Punjab unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu is arriving in Delhi today. Sidhu first removed the captain from the CM's post and then resigned as the president of the Congress state unit, accusing Charanjit Channi of not listening even after he became chief minister. Sidhu later withdrew his resignation after talks with the then in-charge Harish Rawat and came to Delhi and met party interim president Sonia Gandhi. According to sources, Sidhu is still angry with CM Channi for not taking several steps and had expressed his desire to speak to the Congress high command. He has been called to Delhi.
Meanwhile, top Congress leaders are looking at what Captain Amarinder Singh will say in a press conference on Wednesday. The way the tweet has been tweeted clearly shows that the Captain may announce his new party. Amarinder had said in the past that he would form a new party and if the BJP and the Centre government take a positive decision on agricultural laws, they would form an alliance with Akali factions other than the BJP for the Punjab assembly elections. This has also raised the concerns of Congress. Because, if the Central Government withdraws the agricultural law, it will make Captain Amarinder Singh a hero in Punjab. In such a situation, Congress may have to work hard to win Punjab again.
