New Delhi: After the humiliating defeat of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, the party has now come into action. The interim president of the party, Sonia Gandhi, has demanded the resignation of the Congress state presidents of the five states. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has tweeted that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has asked the Presidents of the Pradesh Congress Committees of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur to resign to facilitate the reorganization of the PCC.
Let us inform that at present, Punjab Congress President is Navjot Singh Sidhu, while Ajay Kumar Lallu is the PCC Chief in UP. Apart from this, in Uttarakhand, Ganesh Godiyal holds the command of the State Congress, while the reins of the Goa Congress were handed over to Girish Chodankar, who resigned only after the defeat of the Congress in Goa. At present, the fifth state Manipur Nameirakpaim Loken Singh is in the post of Congress President. At the behest of the party high command, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has asked all the state presidents to resign after the defeat.
Let us inform that Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi had said in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Sunday that, 'We are ready for any sacrifice in the interest of the party. After this, the leaders involved in the CWC expressed confidence in his leadership and requested him to continue in the post till the organizational elections are over. According to the report, the leaders involved in the CWC had also asked Sonia Gandhi to take corrective steps by making necessary changes to strengthen the Congress. It was also decided in the CWC meeting that a 'Chintan Shivir' would be organized immediately after the budget session of Parliament in which the further strategy would be decided.
