New Delhi: Congress has accused PM Narendra Modi of using the VVIP plane to go to the election rally in West Bengal. West Bengal Congress unit president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday complained to the Election Commission about the use of VVIP aircraft by PM Modi for political rallies in Bengal. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary complained and appealed to the Election Commission to take necessary action in this matter.
In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has said, "PM's security is considered important on any official visit, but when the Prime Minister comes to participate in a political event, the other politician should not be stopped. I was subjected to harassment due to the delay and I had to cancel my pre-planned political program".
He further wrote that 'I do not know stopping other activities is part of PM Modi's political program. When I was the Minister of State for Railways in the Ministry of Railways, I never used my saloon car for electoral purposes. I do not understand if VVIP aircraft (which are meant for foreign travel) can be used to participate in political rallies'.
