Gandhi family on target of Sambit Patra

BJP's national spokesperson and Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra at an election rally took a dig at the Congress for accusing the Gandhi family of treating Manipur as a family ATM and keeping the state away from the mainstream for 15 years. In fact, he recently said, "The Gandhi family considers the North East and Manipur as their ATM card. Before this government, they had a government for 15 years and whenever they wanted money in Delhi, they used to say go to Manipur, put the card in the ATM and withdraw the money. All your money is now in Gandhi's coffers and so there was no development in Manipur.''

He later tweeted, "The Gandhi family and the Congress consider Manipur as an ATM to satisfy their greed. Sambit Patra said Manipur is a land of culture and talent, but Congress chose to work against the people. But I feel sad when I see how for 70 years when it was in power at the Centre, the Congress sidelined Manipur and the Northeast. It is an unforgivable conspiracy that Congress conspired against the people of Manipur by keeping them away from the mainstream.''

Patra further said that "the situation has changed since the BJP came to power in the state. In the past, Congress leaders from Manipur used to make hand-in-hand requests for an appointment with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, but no one met them. Today, Chief Minister Biren Singh does not go to Delhi. The Union Minister comes to Manipur to meet him.''
