Kolkata: Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel attacked West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee after her statement that there is no UPA now, saying the Trinamool Congress president should make it clear whether she wants to make her party the main opposition party by fighting the people in power or fighting other opposition parties. Baghel said it is not possible to form any opposition alliance without Congress at the national level as Congress will have to be the main pillar of the alliance to take on the BJP.

Baghel said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) headed by Sonia Gandhi will decide who will be the face of the opposition camp to face PM Narendra Modi in the 2024 general elections. Banerjee had met NCP (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai on Wednesday and indirectly hit out at the Congress leadership saying there is no UPA now.
