New Delhi: Congress has appointed Hardik Patel, the young leader who came in the limelight from the Patidar Reservation Movement in Gujarat, the acting president of the Pradesh Congress Committee. According to a statement issued on Saturday by party organization general secretary KC Venugopal, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the appointment of Hardik Patel with immediate effect.

It is worth mentioning that Hardik Patel had emerged as the face of the Patidar reservation movement in Gujarat a few years back and later joined the Congress. Along with this, the Congress has appointed Mahendra Singh Parmar as Anand, Anand Chaudhary as Surat and Yasin Gajjan as President of the District Congress Committees of Devbhumi Dwarka. Let us tell you that Hardik Patel took the membership of Congress only during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

After which, during a rally in March 2019, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi included Hardik Patel in the party. On this occasion, Hardik had said,"people ask me why I chose Congress and Rahul Gandhi. So let me tell you today that Rahul Gandhi is honest, he does not believe in acting like a dictator. That is why I have elected the Congress."
