New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh of hiding the death figures due to corona virus infection, saying Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should resign for failing to protect the lives of the people of UP and if he does not do so, Governor Anandiben Patel should immediately dismiss him.

Congress Party National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised the issue of alleged reduction in the number of RTPCR Tests in Uttar Pradesh and questioned whether the state government is preparing to fight it again by paving the way for the third wave. Priyanka tweeted, "Only 800-1000 RTPCR tests are conducted every day on 32 lakh population of Bijnor. The Hon'ble High Court said that in a district like Bijnor, 4-5,000 RTPCR tests should be conducted every day, otherwise we are giving a third wave. Is the UP Government preparing to fight the third wave again by making way for it?"

Talking to reporters, Congress spokesperson Supriya Sreenet said, "The Central Government is trying to hide the death figures in association with some state governments. The same thing is being done in Uttar Pradesh".
