Amritsar: Veteran Congress leader and former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann today joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Joginder Singh had resigned from the party on Friday after breaking a 50-year-old relationship with Congress. SC community leader Joginder Singh was angry with Congress over no action being taken against the perpetrators of the multi-crore post-matric SC scholarship scam and not granting district status to Phagwara.

AAP leader and Punjab party co-in-charge Raghav Chadha said Joginder Singh's joining the party will give a big boost to the party in the state. He tweeted, "Inspired by Arvindji's vision, former Punjab Cabinet Minister and three-time MLA Joginder Singh Mann Ji broke off his 50-year-old relationship with the Congress and joined the AAP. He was currently the Chief of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation. His joining will greatly encourage the party unit in Punjab.'

He resigned from the post of president of Congress and Punjab Agro Industries Corporation on Friday. Sources had earlier reported that Mann is estimated to be involved in the AAP. In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mann had said that he had a dream that he would die as a Congressman. But the perpetrators of the matriculation scholarship scheme have the protection of the Congress and their conscience does not allow them to stay in the party.
