Jhajjar: The Congress has suffered another major setback before the Haryana Assembly elections. Naresh Sharma, a Congress MLA for two terms, has left the party and joined the BJP. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar welcomed Naresh Sharma to the BJP by wearing a strap at Berry's public meeting. Naresh Sharma has been an MLA in 2005 and 2009. Along with this, former District President of INLD Karmbir Rathi has also joined the BJP.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar had said that many leaders of the state Congress are in touch with the BJP, but they will only include people with clean image in the party. He said, 'Workers and leaders in Congress do not believe in each other.' It is noteworthy that Congress is constantly facing problems in Haryana. On Saturday, the party's former Haryana unit president Ashok Tanwar resigned from the party on Saturday.

Tanwar was unhappy with the party since he was removed from the post of state Congress president last month and this week he staged a sit-in with his supporters outside the residence of the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi. He alleged that money power has been used in Haryana and common workers have been ignored.
