Big blow to Congress before Gujarat civic elections, State President and leader of opposition resigns

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress state chief Amit Chavda and Paresh Dhanani, who is the leader of opposition in the assembly, have also submitted their resignations to the party's in-charge Rajesh Yadav on Wednesday. It is being told that both the leaders have given their resignations due to the crushing defeat of the Congress in the by-elections held in Gujarat recently. The internal politics of the Congress has increased for the new state president and leader of opposition in Gujarat.

Rajiv Satav, in-charge of Gujarat Congress is camping in the state before the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. He had recently sent a report to the top leadership of the Congress about the reasons for the by-election defeat. The Lok Sabha and two by-elections have been held under the leadership of Gujarat state president Amit Chavda and Paresh Dhanani. In the Lok Sabha elections, Congress could not win any of the 26 seats in Gujarat and in the recently held by-elections, the Congress has suffered an embarrassing defeat.

Questions were being raised within the party about the Congress's continued disappointing performance in Gujarat. Due to this, Congress State President Amit Chavda and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Paresh Dhanani have submitted their resignations.
