Bengaluru: In Karnataka, the Congress has intensified its efforts to save the government trapped in a political vortex following the resignations of several JDS-Congress MLAs. According to sources, Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad has left for Bengaluru at the behest of Sonia Gandhi to resolve the issue.

Earlier, the Karnataka Congress has filed an application to the Assembly Speaker asking him to take action against the MLAs who have violated the party's orders. Earlier, Congress MLA and former minister Roshan Beg also resigned from the Assembly on Tuesday. He has submitted his resignation to the speaker. On the other hand, 12 MLAs, including Roshan Beg, did not attend the Congress Legislature Party meeting on Tuesday morning. The meeting was organised under the leadership of Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah.

MLAs Tukaram, MTB Nagaraj and Dr Sudhakar did not attend the meeting citing poor health. The party had earlier on Monday asked all mlas to attend the meeting. At the same time, the party had indicated that action would be taken against the rebel MLAs if they did not attend the meeting.
