Amritsar: In-charge Harish Rawat, who arrived in Chandigarh yesterday to resolve the ongoing internal dispute in the Punjab Congress, had compared Navjot Singh Sidhu and 4 executive presidents of his team to the great Panch Pyaro of Sikhism. After which there has been an uproar over the matter. Many leaders have also called for Harish Rawat's statement to be linked to insults to Sikh sentiments and to sue him.

Meanwhile, Harish Rawat has apologized for using the word and hurting Sikh sentiments through his Facebook post. He wrote in his post, 'Sometimes you use words that are objectionable, recognizing or respecting someone. I also made the mistake of using the word Panch Pyare for my 4 working presidents. I am a student of the history of the country and the leading place of Panch Pyare cannot be compared to anyone else. I made this mistake, I'm sorry for hurting people's feelings.'

Harish Rawat said, "I will clean a gurudwara in my state for a while as an atonement. I have always had a sense of dedication and respect for Sikhism and its great traditions. I have done the work of offering prasad to so many people, from the President of the country to the Sweet-Reethe of Shri Reetha Saheb in the Champawat district.
