New Delhi: Mani Shankar Aiyar, the veteran Congress politician who has always been in the headlines for his provocative statements, has raised the political temperature once again by making a statement. The comment made by Mani Shankar Aiyar is regarding the country's independence. According to Aiyar, we have been slaves to Americans for the past seven years. Aiyar stated at a conference that we have been slaves of the United States since 2014.

It may be recalled that Kangana Ranaut, a Bollywood actress, made controversial views regarding freedom in the past. Kangana Ranaut remarked on a TV channel that the independence we earned in 1947 was in ''Bheekh'', and the actual freedom came in 2014. Mani Shankar Aiyar, a Congress politician, remarked at a seminar on India-Russia ties in Delhi that "over the last seven years, we have seen that there is no discourse of non-alignment, no talk of peace." We are being held as slaves by the Americans, and we are avoiding China at his request. Let us pretend that you are China's closest ally. Mani Shankar Aiyar, in fact, highlighted concerns about the strengthening of India-US ties.

Iyer went on to say, India and Russia have had a long relationship. Russia and India have always worked together, but since Modi took office, the relationship has deteriorated. Mani Shankar Aiyar stated that our ties and commerce with Russia were fine till 2014, but that they had deteriorated dramatically in the recent seven years.
