Amritsar: Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu will enter the Kartar Pur corridor from the Indian border at around 10.30 am this morning and will visit Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan and bow his head. Elaborate arrangements have also been made by Pakistan authorities and the pak Sikh gurdwara management committee to welcome Sidhu.
Punjab CM Charanjeet Singh Channi along with some members of his cabinet had bowed his forehead at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan on Thursday. However, Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu was not part of the CM Channi led-group. Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Navjot Sidhu played a key role in the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor in November 2018, though he was still not part of the Channi-led group.
Sidhu was told late on Wednesday night that he was named in the third list of VIP people visiting Kartar Pur Sahib gurdwara on November 20, a day after Guruparva. His media advisor Jagtar Sidhu said, 'The form was filled in time to seek permission. Sidhu, however, was not included in Channi's official delegation. This is a matter between the Centre and the Punjab government'. Only they can explain the reason.' In fact, the Centre did not allow all VIPs to go to Kartarpur together and divided their group into 3 factions, citing security.
Pakistan had visited Pakistan earlier also:-
Sidhu was invited to Imran Khan's swearing-in ceremony as Pakistan PM. At that time Punjab CM Amarinder Singh had said that Sidhu should not go to Pakistan. However, Minister Sidhu in Amarinder's cabinet did not follow his advice and had gone to Pakistan. He then hugged Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa for which Captain Amarinder Singh strongly criticised Sidhu and Sidhu had to face a lot of resentment across the country.
