New Delhi: In the Upper House of Parliament, PM Modi on Tuesday became emotional while praising the Leader of the Opposition and senior Congress member Ghulam Nabi Azad on the occasion of his farewell. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has now reacted to this. Tharoor has termed the emotional speech delivered by PM Modi on the occasion of the farewell of Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha as "Artfully crafted performance".

Shashi Tharoor, who attended a discussion on former Vice President Hamid Ansari's book 'Be Many a Happy Accident: Recollection of a Life', said, 'It was a very animated act. This was partly in response to farmer leader Rakesh Tikait. He (PM Modi) decided that he also has tears. ' Rakesh Tikait had recently become emotional during the farmers' movement.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's term in the Upper House came to an end on Tuesday and he was given a farewell. On this occasion, PM Modi described him as a great friend and said, "The next Leader of the House, the Opposition, will face problems in meeting the standards set by Azad." The way Azad cared for his party, he also cared about the House and the country. He said that Azad, while holding the post of Leader of the Opposition, never tried to establish dominance.
