Newly-elected Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was sworn in as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha on Thursday before the House was adjourned. Tharoor, representing Thiruvananthapuram, took his oath in English, holding a copy of the Constitution.

Earlier in the week, prominent figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Hema Malini, Asaduddin Owaisi, and Kanimozhi Karunanidhi were also sworn in as members of the 18th Lok Sabha.

During the parliamentary session, the Lok Sabha was adjourned after presenting the President's address and laying down several bills. Tharoor concluded his oath with the words, "Jai Hind, Jai Samvidhan," expressing his pride and commitment.

The session also noted that five other MPs, including two independents currently in prison, have yet to take their oaths. This adjournment marks a significant moment in the early stages of the current parliamentary term.
