Bangalore: Veteran Congress leader and former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has condemned Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray for raising the issue of unbridled controversy. "I condemn Uddhav's statement," he wrote in a tweet. "Belgaum is from Karnataka and the matter is resolved. The Mahajan report on border matters is final. You are not the leader of Shiv Sena, you are the Chief Minister of a state. It is our duty to protect the language of the land, water, Karnataka," he said.
Siddaramaiah further wrote that the Chief Minister of Karnataka should officially respond to Uddhav. The people of Karnataka are peace-loving. Don't treat it as our weakness. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said in a statement on Sunday that his government is committed to include areas in Karnataka where Marathi-speaking people are in abundance.
Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa has also tweeted on the matter saying, "The Maharashtra Chief Minister has made irresponsible statements on the land and Marathi language of Karnataka. These are against the federal structure. The Mahajan report is final and we know this reality," he said. Yeddyurappa said, "I condemn Uddhav's statement. He should not make statements that not even an inch of land will be given."
