Kochi: VD Satheesan, MLA in Kerala, will be the new leader of opposition in the Assembly. The Congress top leadership has taken a decision in this regard. According to reports, the official announcement was made at around 11 am this morning. The high command has decided to elect Satheesan as the opposition leader after examining the report filed by Malikarjun Kharge.

Most MPs and Congress State Committees are reported to want a change in leadership. The young MLAs strongly supported Satheesan's entry as leader of the opposition. In view of this, the Congress top leadership has decided to replace Leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala with Satheesan. According to reports, the high command has informed the state leadership about Satheesan's election as leader of opposition in the Kerala Assembly.

Congress seems to be divided in the state after a humiliating defeat in the Kerala assembly elections. Reports claim that many leaders have demanded reforms at the leadership level in the state. The new cabinet members of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who won power for the second time in a row last Thursday, have been sworn in.
