Patna: The issue of prohibition of liquor in Bihar has started raising head once again after the elections. Congress MLA Ajit Sharma from Bhagalpur Assembly seat has asked CM Nitish Kumar to cancel it, stating revenue loss of several thousand crores. Congress MLA Ajit Sharma has conveyed this demand to CM Nitish through a letter.
In a letter written on 15 December, MLA Ajit Sharma has said that prohibition was implemented with good thinking, but the ground reality is something else. In a letter sent to CM Nitish Kumar, MLA Ajit Sharma wrote, "In 2016, the prohibition law was enacted. Congress party was also with you at that time. Considering the liquor ban as good work for the state, the Congress had given your full support, but practically for the last four and a half years, it has been seen that prohibition is not really applicable. It has become a means of illegal earning".
Congress MLA Ajit Sharma, who won the Bhagalpur seat, is also making similar allegations about the prohibition of liquor ban. In his letter Ajit Sharma has also written that liquor has been sold from house to house by not selling at shops, liquor is being delivered at home at twice the price that was at shops.
