Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead, has been entangled in legal cases, controversies and protests. Amidst all these, the film gets a protest from a political circle as well. Maharashtra Congress MLA, Amin Patel, demanded that the title of the upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi should be changed.Congress MLA has demanded a change of name of Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt's upcoming film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. Amin Patel, who became MLA for the third time from the Mumbadevi assembly constituency in Maharashtra, has lodged a protest over the title of the film. He said that the title of this film brings the city of Kathiawad into disrepute, so it should be changed. The old story of Mumbai's Red Light area is shown in the film.

Amin further said, "now this city is not like it used to be in the 50s. The women here are now achieving a big place in various fields. The title of this film brings the city of Kathiawadi (Kamathipura) into disgrace. It should be renamed." This movie is going to be released on July 30, has been made on the basis of Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'. The film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has often been in controversy due to his previous films.

Congress MLA raised this issue while speaking in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. People of that area have also lodged objections to the title of the film. He accused the film of misrepresenting the locality. He further said that this movie is defaming the history of the 200 years of the region. Gangubai Kathiawadi became a big name in Mumbai's crime world in the 60s. It is said that her husband sold her for a mere 500 rupees. After this, she got into prostitution.
