New Delhi: The Monsoon session of Parliament, which has been plagued by continuous disruptions due to the Manipur violence, is scheduled to reconvene on Monday. Congress MPs, Manickam Tagore and Manish Tewari, have submitted adjournment motion notices to address the situation in the strife-torn state.

In their notices, they are urging to suspend Zero Hour, Question Hour, and other scheduled activities of the day to discuss the "ongoing ethnic clashes." The Monsoon session commenced on July 20 amidst pandemonium over the Manipur violence, with the opposition demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statements to be made within the House rather than outside.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur expressed his displeasure with the opposition, accusing them of evading parliamentary proceedings. He asserted that the government is prepared to discuss the situation in Manipur, but the opposition seems reluctant to engage. Thakur questioned their motives, suggesting that they seek attention but do not wish to participate in discussions.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties alliance, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), plans to hold a protest in Parliament today. In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also organized a protest in front of the Gandhi statue at the Parliament premises, drawing attention to atrocities against women in Rajasthan, West Bengal, and other states.

The recent Manipur video has sparked nationwide outrage, and another incident involving the torture and humiliation of two tribal women in West Bengal has further fueled the conflict between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress. The BJP has been critical of the Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal and the Congress-ruled Rajasthan governments for their handling of crimes against women.

BJP MP Locket Chatterjee expressed deep emotion during a press conference, questioning whether such incidents of violence against women would only receive attention if they were captured in viral videos.
