New Delhi: The Congress termed the action of removing the DM and SP of Munger as an attempt to hush the police brutal attack on Durga devotees and said firing and lathi charge on Durga devotees was done at the behest of CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Modi, so they do not have the right to remain in the power even for a moment.

All India Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala said in a press conference with Legislative Councilor Prem Chandra Mishra here that the manner in which the innocent people who took part in the immersion of Goddess Durga statue in Munger was attacked by the police, was similar with the police brutality during the British rule led by General Dyer at Jallianwala Bagh. Such an instance of government atrocity is rarely seen anywhere. He said that one youth died and eight others were injured in police firing in Munger while a large number of youths, women and others were injured in the brutal lathi-charge of the police.

Surjewala has said that Munger's DM is the favourite bureaucrat of CM Nitish Kumar while the Superintendent of Police is the daughter of a senior leader of his party Janata Dal-United (JDU). He said that the Nitish government does not have the right to remain in power even for a moment after this incident. He said that PM Modi should not remain mute spectator after such a big incident and he should break his silence.
