New Delhi: The Supreme Court today held a hearing on the farmers' agitation in which the court expressed displeasure over the government's stand. Congress said that this would not have happened to any government in 73 years. Meanwhile, according to sources, congress interim President Sonia Gandhi discussed the agricultural laws with several opposition leaders to take joint action. Sources also said that opposition parties are likely to meet before the parliament session begins.
Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said during a press briefing that the apex court today expressed deep displeasure. The Supreme Court had to say that if you don't have it, we put a check on the law. This would not have happened to any government in 73 years. He further said, "PM Modi should apologize to the country and farmers and announce the repeal of the three laws. The farmers of the country need nothing less than that."
Surjewala said, "The direct responsibility of this movement is that of Amit Shah, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Yogi Adityanath. The farmers wanted to come and protest in the capital, but who dug the roads, who planted the barriers, who stopped the way of the donors by planting the police. So, cases should be filed against Amit Shah, Khattar, Chautala, and Yogi Adityanath. Pm is also responsible. We hope the top court will take cognizance."
