New Delhi: The Congress is planning a brainstorming session, or "Chintan Shivir," following its catastrophic defeat in the five Assembly elections. The "Chintan Shivir," according to party sources, will take place from May 13 to 15 in a resort outside Udaipur, where about 400 leaders would sit to discuss what the party lacks and what has to be done to resurrect its electoral prospects.

Last month, the Congress Working Committee resolved to organise a brainstorming session to figure out why the party keeps losing elections after elections. This will be the first brainstorming session in nine years; the last one was in Jaipur in 2013.

The Congress' top brass has met with senior officials and political guru Prashant Kishor multiple times in the last few days.

Mr. Kishor presented the party leadership with a blueprint for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Sonia Gandhi, the Congress president, has appointed a small team to investigate the presentation's details and provide her with a report. During the brainstorming workshop in Udaipur next month, this report will be considered in broad terms.

According to sources, Mr Kishor told Mrs Gandhi and other officials at the meeting that the Congress should aim for 370 to 400 Lok Sabha seats out of a total of 543 for 2024, and focus on forming alliances where the party was weak.
