Congress' victory in MP by-polls a 'defeat of misgovernance and arrogance': Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi [India], Mar 1 (NT): Attacking at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that win of his party in Kolaras and Mungaoli by-polls was 'defeat of misgovernance in Madhya Pradesh.'

The Congress president took to micro-blogging site Twitter handle and greeted the people of Madhya Pradesh, voters and Congress workers for marking a historic win in the by-polls.

"This is a loss for arrogance and misgovernance and a victory for hope," said the Congress president, expecting win to Assembly elections in MP later this year. "First Rajasthan and now Madhya Pradesh has proven that the prospect of change is knocking at the door," he tweeted further.

The Congress Party yesterday bagged a huge win in the Kolaras along with Mungaoli assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh.

It is the fourth consecutive win of the Congress after winning Khajuraho constituencies in 2017. In recent concluded by polls Congress' Mahendra Yadav defeated former MLA and BJP candidate Devendra Jain by 8083 votes in Kolaras constituency.

In Mungaoli, Congress candidate Brajendra Singh Yadav register win defeating BJP candidate Baisahab Yadav by 2124 votes.

The assembly seats fell vacant after the demise of sitting Congress MLAs Mahendra Singh Kalukheda (Mungaoli) and Ram Singh Yadav (Kolaras). (NT)
