Congress will face a hard-hitting battle in 2018 polls due to BJP campaign Congress- Free India

After down in Hilly state Himachal Pradesh on Monday, the Congress is at present in posses its Govt. only in four States — Punjab, Karnataka, Meghalaya and Mizoram — and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Except for Punjab, the other three States are planned to vote in the polls in 2018.

The heart of India, Madhya Pradesh along with Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh polls are being held in the second half of the year 2018.

A number of BJP leaders like Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan have expressed Twin Victory of BJP as another step towards a Congress- mukt (free) India.

In fact the Congress gave neck to neck fight to BJP as Its increase in seats and vote share in Gujarat with 78 seats.

But the Congress will face a hard-hitting battle ahead in the next round of Assembly polls 2018.

In Karnataka, the Congress party may face the anti-incumbency factor and a resurgent BJP with B.S. Yeddyuruppa, from the powerful Lingayat community, previously being affirmed its chief ministerial nominee.

 The Janata Dal(S), led by H.D. Kumaraswamy, is expected to make it a multi-angled challenge.

In Rajasthan, the party will have to decide on whether or not it wants to project a chief ministerial nominee. As Sachin Pilot has led the party for over three years now, veteran Ashok Gehlot is back in the weighing up after he oversaw a useful Congress campaign in Gujarat.

In Madhya Pradesh l the Congress is separated into factions owing adherence to different leaders from young Jyotiraditya Scindia to old hand Kamal Nath and Ex CM Digvijaya Singh, the presence of too many long-lasting leaders’ calls for a neck to neck opposition act.

In Chhattisgarh, the party does not have any leader to give competition to the height of Chief Minister Raman Singh.
