Gwalior: SI Deepak Gautam has been badly scorched due to the effigy burning being done by Congress leaders at Phulbagh intersection of Gwalior city of MP. In view of his critical condition, local doctors have referred him to Delhi on Wednesday (February 2, 2022). On the other hand, the CM of the state Shivraj Singh Chauhan has called and asked Gautam for his well being. At the same time, the Congress MLA has appealed to the workers to cancel the police proceedings.

In this regard, the CM's office tweeted, "Due to the burning of effigies at Gwalior's Phoolbagh intersection, while handling the law and order, CM Shri Deepak Gautam, ASI of Inderganj police station, who was injured in a fire accident, got well by talking to the ASI on the call." Doctors have told that Deepak Gautam has got burns up to 45 percent due to the fire. He has deep wounds on his chest. His hands and face were also badly burnt. In view of the seriousness of the situation, he has been admitted to the burn department of Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where he is undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors.

The same Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi says that 6 named persons have been taken into custody in this incident. Of these, five are Congress leaders. The criminals who have been arrested include NSUI State Vice President Shivraj Yadav, Akash Tomar, Anish Khan, Abhimanyu Purohit, Ghanshyam Gudsale and Sachin Bhadauria. Criminals have been booked under sections 307, 188, 147, 148, 149 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code. On the basis of the video, other criminals are being searched.
