Congress's central team will visit Tripura to assess the state's political atmosphere

A three-member AICC team would visit Tripura on Wednesday to assess the political situation in the state, a party leader said, only days after the Congress' headquarters in Agartala and its workers were assaulted by suspected BJP supporters.

The AICC team, led by the party's Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, would visit Governor Satyadeo N Arya and DGP VS Yadav, according to reports. The team will include AICC general secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar and MP Ripun Bora. The AICC delegation would visit the Governor at Raj Bhavan in the evening on Wednesday to inform him of the attacks on the party's leaders and members, according to Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Birajit Sinha.

On February 26, a group of miscreants attacked Congress workers during a rally in the Kamarpukurpar region of Banamalipur, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb's assembly constituency. Several members of Congress and supporters were hurt as a result of the event. The BJP supporters also vandalized the Congress Bhavan in Agartala. On Tuesday, Sinha added, "The AICC delegation will meet with the DGP and request that he arrest the culprits in the two incidents."

According to former BJP member Asish Saha, who just joined the grand old party, the Congress has filed two complaints but no one has been detained so yet.
