New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has quit the party two days after she expressed her discontent over some UP party workers being reinstated in the party who she says misbehaved with her. Earlier, Priyanka went to Mathura parliamentary constituency where some party workers misbehaved with her over rumors that she was seeking ticket from the seat.

After returning from Mathura, she complained about the incident to party high command and the workers were suspended. However, following an intervention by Jyotiradtiya Scindia, the Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (West), the state unit committee decided to revoke their suspension and reinstate them to the party.

Priyanka wrote a scathing tweet on Wednesday, saying that "goons" were getting preference in the party. She said, “Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in @incindia over those who have given their sweat and blood. Having faced brickbats and abuse across board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate (sic,” she tweeted In her resignation, she highlighted the incident as the "final factor" to make her feel that her services were no longer needed in the party. Priyanka said that if she continues to stay in the party then it'll be the cost of her own self-respect and dignity.
