BANGALORE: Anant Kumar Hegde, once among the disputed BJP leaders from Karnataka, is once again in controversy. This time he has made controversial remarks about former IAS officer Shashikant Senthil who resigned from his post. Former Union Minister Hegde has asked Senthil's resignation, calling it a step taken in arrogance and adviced him to go to Pakistan. He said in a video message on Twitter that, there can be no greater treason than that of an IAS officer questioning the decision of the Center and Parliament on the basis of majority.

On September 6, Senthil resigned from the Indian Administrative Service in a letter that said the fundamental principles that create democracy are being compromised in an unprecedented way. Targeting Senthil, Hegde said, the first thing he should do is that he should go to Pakistan with those who are supporting his move.

This is an easy task and also a permanent solution. He said, instead of destroying the country, they should go there and continue their struggle against the country and the government. The BJP MP claimed that Senthil's resignation was not a small thing, but rather an arrogance and rudeness as he questioned the government's decision on the basis of majority. Hegde has appealed to the government and the governor to take strict action against him.
