The matter of 69 thousand teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh has now become a big political issue. After the High Court's decision, candidates from OBC community are on strike. They are talking about staying on strike until they get the appointment letter and are not ready to give three months' time to the government. The High Court has given three months' time to the state government to prepare a new merit list. Candidates fear that this matter can be put on hold in the Supreme Court. For the last four years, candidates have been fighting their battle from the road to the court.

Political response

The politics of Uttar Pradesh has now become centered on OBC and SC vote banks. That is why opposition parties have also come out in support of the candidates. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the UP government deliberately wants to delay this matter till the next elections. He said that the merit list can be prepared in three hours. BSP chief Mayawati is also with the students sitting on dharna on this issue.

The students sitting on the dharna are expecting support from Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. Amarendra Patel, who is leading the protest, said that he had met Keshav Maurya last year and supported their demand. Now the students want Keshav Maurya to convey their point to the Chief Minister. A few days ago, Keshav Maurya had written a letter to CM Yogi Adityanath in which he had demanded the release of the revised merit list.

BJP's OBC vote bank

The OBC and Dalit vote bank in UP has become important for the BJP. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party got 37 seats, while the BJP's seats decreased from 62 to 33. The BJP is now trying to bring this vote bank back. For this, the OBC leaders and allies of the BJP have worked vigorously. Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya seems to be against the government on many issues, but he welcomed the High Court's decision in the case of 69 thousand teacher recruitment.

Activism of allies

NDA and BJP's allies have also come forward in support of OBC candidates. Apna Dal president Anupriya Patel has written a letter to CM Yogi in which she has talked about outsourcing and irregularities in the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers. Om Prakash Rajbhar of Suheldev Samaj Party and Sanjay Nishad of Nishad Party have also become active on this issue. If these efforts bring the backward and Dalit classes in favor of BJP, then BJP can benefit from it. Its effect will also be seen in the by-elections of ten assembly seats in UP.
