Coolpad sued Xiaomi over stealing two patents

Chinese Smartphone Maker Coolpad has sued xiaomi. Coolpad's subsidiary Yulong accused Chomo of stealing two patents in China. Coolpad has asked to stop selling some products from xiaomi.

Coolpad said in a statement, "Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific Limited has filed a lawsuit against Xiaomi Telecom Technology for the use of patents in Jiangsu's court without permission."

This company is demanding that xiaomi immediately banned the sale of these existing smartphones. These include Xiomi 6, Xiaomi Max 2, Xiaomi Note 3, Xiaomi 5X, Redmi Note 4X and Mi Mix 2. Coolpad's subsidiary, Yulong, had also filed a similar case against xiaomi in January.

According to Coolpad, this patent has things related to user interfaces. These include basic communication, display and interactive functions of mobile phones.

"This is because the Intellectual Property Protection has increased in China," Nancy, the global chief patent officer of Coolpad said during a press conference.

Coolpad has also accused xiaomi of violating the patent of multi-SIM design and user interface connected with other technology. Not only this, Coolpad has demanded that xiaomi should compensate it.

Coolpad India CEO Syed Tajuddin said, "It is very important to keep your invention safe and ensure that no one else should use it in its business without permission. We have more than 13 thousand patents, of which 2000 have got permission. We have shown cooperation from the beginning in this matter, but this did not make any sense and finally, we have sued xiaomi. We are still negotiating with the attitude of cooperation with xiaomi  so that it can be resolved."

At present, Shamoi has not issued any official statement on this matter.
