Covid19 vaccine "Corbevax" is ready to be available as a booster dose on the CoWIN App in public and private vaccination centres from August 12.

Private COVID-19 vaccine centres charge Rs.250 per dose, which includes the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The cost for end users, including taxes and administrative fees, will be Rs. 400 per dosage, according to a statement from the vaccine's manufacturer, Biological E.

The Hyderabad company made this statement after receiving authorisation from the Union Health Ministry to use Corbevax as a heterologous COVID-19 booster dose for people 18 years of age and older. Six months after the second dose of the initial vaccination with either the Covaxin or the Covishield vaccine, the vaccine can be administered as a booster shot.

"Corbevax has been authorised as a heterologous COVID-19 booster vaccine in India for the first time. Another crucial stage in battling the pandemic is the Ministry's clearance. The safety and effectiveness of our vaccination are recognised by this endorsement, which makes us very happy, according to Mahima Datla, managing director of Biological E.

Corbevax is made using the same conventional recombinant protein-based technique as Hepatitis B vaccinations. According to the manufacturer, clinical trials of the heterologous booster dose showed a significant boost in humoral immune response as measured by neutralisation antibody titres against the ancestral and omicron strain, binding antibody titres, and cellular immune response, along with a minimal number of mild adverse events.
