The corona epidemic has created its terror everywhere amid the growing infection of coronavirus, the Drug Controller General of India has allowed emergency use of the drug '2-deoxy-D-glucose' (2-DG). This medicine will be used as an auxiliary therapy meaning this medicine will be used for the treatment of moderate to mild corona cases.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation reported this on Saturday. It can be easily prepared as it is an analog of generic molecules and glucose, DRDO said in a statement. At the same time, it can be made available on a large scale. An auxiliary therapy is an alternative treatment that is done with primary treatment. The purpose is first aid, which means to help the patient in his ongoing treatment. The DRDO statement said the drug has been developed in collaboration with DRDO Lab Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences and Dr Reddy Laboratories.

Clinical results have shown that this medicine helps patients admitted to molecule hospital to recover faster. In addition, reduce the dependence on oxygen given to the patient through cylinders. According to DRDO, the patients treated with 2-DG had more symptomatic care than the Standard of Care (SoC) at various points. It said the drug comes as a powder that can be dissolved in water.
