Lucknow: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and Lok Sabha MP from Rampur Azam Khan, who was lodged in Sitapur jail in Uttar Pradesh, was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow due to sudden deterioration of his health. Azam Khan was jailed along with his son Abdullah in Sitapur. Both are infected with corona virus. Azam Khan has been admitted to Medanta along with his son Abdullah.

According to the Sitapur jail administration, Azam Khan, who had been suffering from corona infection for several days, had been ill for several days, but his oxygen level reached 90 since Saturday night and his health started deteriorating by noon. However, Azam Khan, who had been ailing for several days, refused to step out of jail after being found corona positive. They demanded that he should be treated in jail.

When the news of Azam Khan's refusal to go out of jail for treatment reached the administrative authorities, he asked Azam Khan to be admitted to the PGI in Lucknow, but Azam Khan did not agree. However, Azam Khan then agreed to undergo treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow after which he was taken to Lucknow by ambulance along with his son Abdullah.
