Over 1.5 million beneficiaries were vaccinated in India in the first week
According to a statement released by the Health Ministry, 15,37,190 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 27,776 sessions in the first week of the largest vaccine campaign against the corona virus in the country until 6 p.m. on Saturday. Most of the 15 lakh beneficiaries in the priority group are health workers and the second dose will be given 28 days after the first dose.
According to government figures, the speed of vaccination campaign in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana is the fastest in the country and maximum number of beneficiaries in these states were vaccinated in the first week.
In the first week of campaigning, a total of 11 beneficiaries were admitted to the hospital after the vaccination, while six were killed, but no deaths were reported from the vaccine, the ministry said.
In the second week of the vaccination campaign, seven more states will start using covacin made by Bharat Biotech.
So far, there are 12 states where Covicillin and Serum Institute of India (SII) are being given Covishield supplements. Now covaxin will start to be used in seven more states. These states are Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and West Bengal, the ministry said.
The world's largest vaccine campaign began in India on January 16. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Covishield and Covaxin are used in the vaccination campaign. The government is moving forward with a plan to vaccinate 300 million people in the early stages of July. Of these, one crore health workers, two crore frontline employees, the rest of them over 50 years and other disease patients.
