Hyderabad: Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad has been infected with corona virus. According to a study, the virus has also been found in the other two lakes in the city, namely Pedda Cheruvu or Nacharam Lake and Nizam Pond or Turk Cheruvu Lake in Pragatinagar near Kukatpalli. However the Corona virus does not yet reach lakes that are located in the urban and rural areas around the city.

Adulabad and Potharaju lakes located on the outskirts of the city are currently free from corona virus infection. However, the good news is that there is no evidence so far that the corona spreads through water. This was revealed in a study by the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research Ghaziabad.

Earlier, the research team revealed the presence of viruses in sewage and waste water and has now added the city's lakes in this order. According to the study, it has been revealed that corona exists in the city's lakes. The study, which has been going on for 7 months, covers the first and second corona waves.
