The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given a revised consultation on the use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) between lockdown and corona infection. Increasing the scope of hydroxychloroquine has been recommended by ICMR to include asymptomatic health workers working in non-Kovid-19 hospitals, as well as personnel from various other fields. Actually, the government has recommended the use of hydroxychloroquine as a preventive medicine. In the government-revised advisory, asymptomatic healthcare working in non-COVID-19 hospitals, frontline workers deployed in surveillance zones in the containment zone, and police and paramilitary forces involved in coronavirus infection activities may take hydroxychloroquine drugs.

The matter is being told that a joint monitoring group headed by the Directorate General of Health Services and Corona affected and non-representatives of AIIMS, ICMR, National Center for Disease Control, National Disaster Management Authority, WHO representatives and experts associated with central government hospitals. This advisory was issued to all the health workers working in the Corona affected areas after a recommendation in a review meeting to use this medicine.

For your information, let us tell you that hydroxychloroquine is a medicine used to treat malaria. Health workers in India had already been allowed to use hydroxychloroquine to prevent corona and now the government has expanded its scope of use. Actually, no vaccine or drug of coronavirus has been invented yet. In such a situation, patients are being cured by the use of alternative medicines. Healthcare workers have also been given permission to use hydroxychloroquine to prevent infection.
