Dehradun: The entire country is suffering due to Corona epidemic. Along with the increase in corona infection in Uttarakhand, COVID waste is also increasing. With the approval of individual hospitals to treat corona, it is certain to increase further. In view of this, the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Board has also started investigating businesses those who have an incinerator.

In addition, the board has issued instructions to tell the regional officials that they should find out the businesses who have incinerators n 15 days. At this time, there is a system of proper disposal of corona waste at three places in the state. One is in Haldwani, the other in Rudrapur and the third in Roorkee. Two companies are doing this work. Two companies have been given the right to dispose of Bio-Medical Waste in the state. It is these companies that deal with COVID waste under a separate arrangement.

It is also believed that the government will now release the list of hospitals that will be given the responsibility of treatment of corona waste. If this happens, it will also be easier for the companies collecting Corona waste. Two companies working in the state are picking up 1.35 tonnes of corona waste every day. This waste is being sent to incineration in Haldwani. Whereas .15 ton (150 kg) corona waste is not reaching the incinerator from inaccessible areas. Therefore, it is being pressed deep into the ground.
