Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh will not once again have a Kanwar yatra this year. Yes, it has been canceled due to a coronavirus infection. Let me tell you that after the talks between the State Government and the Kanwar Sangh on the yatra, the Sangh has decided to cancel the yatra. CM Yogi Adityanath had given directions and additional chief secretary (home) Avnish Awasthi and DGP Mukul Goel had interacted with Kanwar Sangh in the same direction. The Supreme Court has already heard the Kanwar yatra in the recent past.

In fact, the court had given the Yogi government a chance to reconsider and in the hearing, the state government had told the court that there would be no complete ban on Kanwar yatra in the state, the Kanwar yatra would continue symbolically. Even after all this, the court in the hearing had asked the UP government to reconsider. In fact, during the hearing, the Supreme Court had said, "This is a very important subject for everyone. Every person's life is the most important.''

Religious and other sentiments are subject to fundamental rights. At the same time, the Central Government had also said in the Supreme Court that the Kanwar Yatra should not be allowed to go to Uttarakhand. In fact, this time the Uttarakhand government had banned the Kanwar yatra and at the same time, the Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan had banned the Kanwar yatra in the state the previous day. Let me tell you that the yatra has also been banned in Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand. The supreme court is now scheduled to hear the case again tomorrow i.e. In addition, the government is likely to give a plan in the court on the plan to provide Ganga water to the devotees in the month of Sawan. If you remember, last year also, it was the Kanwar Sangh which agreed not to hold the Kanwar Yatra after discussions with the government.
