From the beginning of the pandemic, New Zealand maintained strict protocols, shut their borders, brought in compulsory quarantine, and did everything possible to prevent the virus from spreading. They succeeded, the reason why they are mask-free. 

2. Australia

Border closure, snap lockdowns and effective health measures have made Australia one of the world’s most successful countries in curbing the pandemic. As per records, they have reported 29,500 infections and 910 deaths. Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison said, “Australia is in no hurry to open those borders, I assure you. I will not be putting at risk the way we are living in this country which is so different from the rest of the world today.”

3. Italy

Italy was the first country to impose a strict lockdown to flatten the curve and is now rigorously working towards reviving its tourism. However, not the entire country, but three idyllic islands— Capri, Ischia in the Gulf of Naples, and Procida—have been declared COVID-free.

4. Portugal

Corvo island in Portugal is the world's first 100% vaccinated island. It houses only 430 inhabitants and all of them have been vaccinated.

5. Israel

With the highest vaccination rate in the world, Israel is the first country to declare itself COVID-free. They reported zero Covid-19 deaths in June last year and vaccinations were rolled out more rapidly than any other country.

6. Oceania Islands

A bunch of Pacific Ocean islands have also emerged as COVID-free destinations. Tonga, Palau, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Samoa and Nauru islands have steered clear of the virus since last year. They also made sure their inhabitants were jabbed.
