The couple, who depressed from financial woes, allegedly committed suicide by taking poison in Raghubir Colony at Mathura. Surendra Singh Yadav,the Deputy Superintendent of Police said, “Pawan Kumar and his wife Bhavana  yesterday consumed poison following financial problems. Both were rushed to the district hospital where Bhavana was declared brought dead while Pawan died through treatment”

"Yesterday morning, Pawan left his three-year-old daughter Sadhana with his brother Uttam in the nearby colony and consumed sulphas tablet along with his wife," he said.

As per the police, “the two had a court marriage which Pawan's family rejected. The couple was living in a rented accommodation at Raghubir Colony”.

DSP further said, “Both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem”
