Lucknow: After several days of hearings in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah case, the court has reserved its decision. Justice Mayank Kumar Jain's bench heard the case, which involved the maintainability of civil suits filed in Mathura. The hearings concluded on Friday, and the Allahabad High Court has now reserved its decision.

The Hindu side argued that the Shahi Idgah Mosque is illegally occupying the land belonging to Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi, asserting that the mosque has no legal right to the land, even though prayers have been held there since 1669. They claimed that the temple was first demolished and then the mosque was constructed on the same site. Additionally, they argued that the Waqf Board declared it a Waqf property without owning it, and the ASI described it as Nazul land.

Previously, the mosque's representatives argued that the temple side lacks the legal standing to file the suit, suggesting that the debate is being extended unnecessarily. A total of 18 civil suits have been filed, calling for the removal of the Shahi Idgah Mosque, which they deem illegal. The mosque's representatives questioned the validity of these suits.

In 2020, lawyer Ranjana Agnihotri and seven others filed a suit in the Mathura Civil Court, which was initially dismissed but later deemed 'hearable' by the district court. Over the next two and a half years, 17 additional petitions were filed. In May 2023, the High Court summoned all 18 petitions for a decision.
