HYDERABAD: Asaduddin Owaisi, the head of the AIMIM, stated on Tuesday that the Karnataka High Court's decision on the hijab has suspended fundamental rights to freedom of religion, culture, speech, and expression.

One religion has been singled out and its religious practises have been outlawed, said Hyderabad MP, Owaisi. He said, the High Court decision has forced children to choose between education and Allah's laws. With a series of tweets, Owaisi responded to the High Court order.

"It is Allah's demand for Muslims to be educated while also adhering to his rules (salah, hijab, roza, etc). The government is now forcing girls to make a decision. Masjids, beards, and now hijab have all been pronounced non-essential by the courts. What remains of the right to free expression of one's beliefs? "He inquired.

He hoped that the ruling would not be used to justify abuse of hijab-wearing women in the future. When this begins to happen to hijab-wearing women at banks, hospitals, and public transport, he said, one can only hope and be disappointed.

He hoped petitioners will take their case to the Supreme Court. He also hoped that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and other religious organisations will file an appeal against the ruling.
