New Delhi. The second wave of covid is showing a shortage of vaccines in the states amid the rapidly increasing covid infection cases. In view of the issue raised by the States, the Central Government has now prepared a complete road map for providing covid vaccine to the States in June. The Centre has taken this step so that the States are in advance aware of the quota of vaccines being given to them. As per the information available on the Covin portal so far, 22 crore covid doses were provided by the Centre to the States by 27th May. Out of this, 20. 1 crore corona vaccine is being used.

It has been learnt that according to health ministry data, an average of 20 lakh people are going to be given vaccine every day. The highest number of covid vaccines so far were given between April 3 and 9, when 2. 4 crore vaccines were administered. However, the figure declined to 1 between May 22 and 28. It came down to 16 crores. The Central Government has asked all persons above 18 years of age to install covid vaccine by the end of this year but the way the graph of corona vaccine has dropped by 40 per cent in May seems to be increasing.

The Central Government has allocated 4 crore doses for the month of June to major States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. On the other hand, the dose of vaccine to Uttar Pradesh has not been made available. The central government is incurring the cost of vaccination for those above the age group of 45 years while the states themselves have to buy vaccines for those in the age group of 18 to 44 years.
