New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India has seen 12,729 new cases of Covid-19, with 221 deaths as a result of the infection. According to data released on Friday by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 12,165 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to around 98.23%, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries data to 3,37,24,959. According to ministry data, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 1,48,922.

Up until November 4, 61,30,17,614 samples had been tested for COVID-19, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On Thursday, 6,708,847 samples were tested. The country's total death toll now stands at 4,59,873. The first death from the COVID pandemic was reported in India in March 2020.

Meanwhile, Kerala reported 7,545 new COVID-19 cases and 136 related deaths on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 49.95 lakh and the number of fatalities to 32,734, according to the state government. Since Wednesday, 5,936 more people have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 48,87,350 and the number of active cases to 74,552, according to an official press release.
